It is extremely tempting to plan your itinerary till a couple of hours before your flight home. You don’t want to miss out on ANYTHING of the far away land that you have come to, do you?
You don’t even know when or whether you would set your feet on it again. But take our word for it, you would lose out on a lot of peace of mind by doing so. So instead of running around on the last day, here are a few things to do on the last day of your trip.
1) Pack your bags
Yes, though all of your clothes are going straight to the laundry once you get home, it’s important that you spend at least half the time you spent packing your bag before the trip on packing your bag on the last day of the trip. Deal with your wet clothes – carry them in separate covers or as far as possible avoid getting your clothes wet on the last day of the trip so you don’t have to bother about them. Make sure that you have taken all your valuables and the extra shopping that you have done.
2) Keep your travel documents ready
During the trip, a lot of emptying and hurried tossing around of documents and small articles takes place. So you’re probably better off hunting for your passport, tickets for the journey back home and identity proofs and keeping them ready and handy for the next day. This will save you a lot of fishing in your bag and unearthing its embarrassing contents in public the next day.
3) Stock up with entertainment enough to last you the entire journey
It is quite probable that you are done reading the book that you were carrying with you, tired of the same music on your iPod, or have seen the movies on your laptop a little too often. So if you have a long haul flight ahead of you, you probably would want to download a few things to keep you entertained. Most flights, buses do have entertainment on board, but who doesn’t like having their own choice of things to do?
4) Time to hand in the change
You probably want to get your money left exchanged back to the currency of your homeland. Keep a little cash to get you to the airport/ station but get the rest converted beforehand so that it is one thing ticked off your list.
5) Get ready to go home
Before you check out in the morning, take care of a few things. Find your car keys, order for groceries to be delivered at home, change your watch back to the local time and plan your day ahead.
More importantly, relax. It’s the end of an exciting and tiresome vacation and soon your life will once again be hurled into a whirlwind around the clock. So just relax, while you have the chance to.
