Everyone loves to travel. There’s so much to explore and discover in our experience that we spend our hard earned money to make trips all over the globe. The excitement that drives us never ceases. However, in those travels, you find yourself stopping over another place to take a connecting flight to your main destination. This is no exception with Dubai.  Situated in the Middle East, Dubai acts as one of the main bridging destinations for those traveling long distances. There may be the case where you find yourself spending over a day in the rising metropolis and ask yourself, “What do I do?”

Well, fear not. Dubai has so much to offer. Here’s a list of things you can do in the next 24 hours before you have to fly out again. This is obviously assuming you don’t fully intend on sleeping the day out in your hotel room.

1. Shopping Malls

You knew this would be the first obvious pick. But so what? Dubai is abundant when it comes to a luxurious shopping experience. It even tries to outdo itself every year with a new mall and that’s not a bad thing. It’s just more choice for us. You could spend an entire day at a shopping mall in Dubai. Every mall has something unique to offer. Whether it’s the sights or the incredible experience overall, it’s a great way to pass your time. Go shop, eat at the food court or even stare at the people walk by. It’s all unique.

2. The Souk Markets

We’ve already mentioned the Luxurious shopping malls and the incredible experience they provide, but that’s just one side to the shopping experience. While malls are great, the crowd is entirely different. This is especially the case with the Souk Markets. It brings a very cultural aspect and makes your shopping experience all the more richer. Shopping at the souks gives you a glimpse of the more traditional and cultural side of Dubai. It’s noisy and you’re thrown in the middle of it and it’s a brilliant experience.

3. Take a ride around Dubai

Dubai isn’t a huge place. Most of it can be covered in a few hours. So why not take a look around? Buses are available every few minutes that take you all over the city. Better yet, the Metro rail system has recently been completed and provides quick transport around most of Dubai. It’s also cheap and efficient if you’re looking to save a little cash on the side. Plus, the metro even gives you a good view of the city of Dubai while on the go. It’s a great overall experience.

4. Visit the Creek

It can never be stated enough how peaceful the Creek can be. Situated in the heart of the city of Dubai, the line separates it into the North which is Deira and the South which is Bur Dubai. The attractions here are many but what stands out the most are the Dhow cruises along the line which can be a very relaxing experience if that’s what you’d like to do with your time. This is understandable for those looking to take a break from all the moving about in their everyday lives. A great way to spend a day and a great experience.

5. Jumeirah Beach

This one moves on the line with the Creek. If you’re not looking to be on the move in those 24 hours but would rather spend your time in one place feeling great, then the beach is your way to go. While this is not recommended during the summer, it’s a great place to kickback during the cooler months. Lying down on the beach, listening to the sea hit the shore, watch the people move by, grab a bite from the beach-side stalls and also get a great view of the Burj-Al-Arab. The experience is great and relaxing.

6. Visit a local Cafeteria

This goes without saying. It’s a must do if you ever visit Dubai, even if it’s for a day or so. The local café’s at Dubai provide you with the authentic eating experience in terms of the Arabian culture and tradition. You’ll eat the authentic Arabic food, smoke sheesha and sit on the floor doing it and the experience is great. The food is great, the ambience is rich & relaxing and the experience is easy on your pocket. The option is much better than spending your lunch or dinner at a fancy joint all on your own. Those things are for business meetings anyway.

7. Play Some Basketball

Dubai is full of parks and recreational facilities even along the more suburban of areas. If nothing else interests you, why not head over to these places to play a game of hoop? There’s always someone around that would willingly let you join in the game. It’s a great way to pass your time and its good exercise. Most places in Dubai usually have football fields around as well if basketball isn’t your type of game.
